First EVER public sharing

Whoo figured it out!!! Holy complications for a simple person like me! I'm pretty sure I didn't have to go through all the steps I did in order for me to locate these files on google - that is an issue I shall figure out some other time... and so I will share these with all of you. The above is a figure drawing I did in our first class and the bottom two are from the previous figure drawing class I had done with Lalie Douglas.

Just a comment about this last drawing, this poor fellow sat two classes for this. When I finally hit the wall at the end of the second sitting I was really happy with what I had captured...but now that I am looking at it again, i'm sure I could have added loads more details on him. Alas as I have mentioned, time is my enemy, and this will be only one of the challenges among others which I shall experience in this class taught by Konstantinos!!

Second class - Deuxième classe

Hello everyone,

This coming Thursday we will draw from quick poses and there will be a long pose (of about 30 minutes) at the end. Bring the materials listed at the course plan and any other material that you might wish to work with. This week you will be focusing on capturing in your drawings the sense of gesture and movement which exist in the poses. The question that will guide you will be  ''What is the model doing?'' ( as opposed to what does the model look like).
I am attaching below three drawings which are remarkable for their amazing sense of energy.  Without doubt these drawings speak of actions. Can you guess their titles? Note that they don't show a lifeless body in the middle of nowhere, they put us in a situation, we feel something is happening.

Do you have in mind any other great drawings where form and action become one? Share them with us!

Contour Drawings

Hello all!  It was lovely to meet everyone last week (and to see again those of you I already knew!)
In my effort to be better at posting in the blog this time around, here are some of my drawings from this past week

I found the contouring better than last time, but still very frustrating at times - I felt like I 'lost' a few of the shorter poses (I was also very tired though, so that may not have helped!)  Anyways, here are my long pose, and three of the shorter ones.  The two first of the shorter ones were my favourites last week, and the third is one that grew on me - it is more muddled than the others, but I've decided that I think that sort of does something interesting here. . . .

Welcome-1st class! Bienvenu-1ère classe!

Hello dear students!

I hope you enjoyed our first class. I was happy to meet you all (former and new students) and very satisfied with your effort, especially if I take into account  how much attention and thoroughness is required in contour studies.

Waiting for your posts - images of your work from last week or any other question, remark, or information -  I would like to invite you to take a look at the drypoint prints of Angie Hoffmeister, a very interesting artist whose work I stumbled upon while searching the internet. Although the medium is different than the one you used last week, the idea and means she uses are the same: She constructs her images using mainly contours. I also find that there is another common element with the blind contour studies you did last week. Can you figure out what that is? What can you learn from the way she works with contours, her process and creative choices?

Check this link if you would like to see more of her work

First class, first post

Ok first blog entry! The first pic is from that excruciatingly long pose where we weren't supposed to look at the page... The next morning it didn't look so cringe-worthy. The others are from the short poses.
